Adding to this, climate change where the increase in temperature is constant from year to year on a planetary level, mosquitoes have become more and more a reality in the daily lives of the population.
Mosquitoes thrive in areas with high humidity and typical temperatures of tropical and subtropical climates.
Thus, the ideal conditions for the spread of these little bugs are present on our island.
There are several ways to prevent mosquitoes from entering our homes: mosquito nets, planting insect-repelling plants, keeping doors and windows closed, using insecticides, or covering ourselves with clothing up to our heads.
However, there is a solution that helps keep insect bites away from our skin: Air Conditioning!
The goal of Air Conditioning is to provide humans with comfort so that they can have a quality life wherever they are (at work or at home).
To achieve this, it maintains a controlled temperature, between 22°C and 25°C in summer and 18°C to 20°C in winter.
Additionally, Air Conditioning reduces the humidity percentage in the air.
With an environment where the temperature is lower than outside and humidity within the parameters of human comfort, mosquitoes tend not to enter our homes, thus not biting us.
Under these conditions, humans tend not to sweat, making it difficult for mosquitoes to detect us because they are attracted to heat and use thermal sensors to locate their victim.
The air conditioning necessarily reduces the concentration of CO2 that we release into the atmosphere through our skin, diluting it. And so, it becomes more difficult for the insect to detect our presence.
When the Air Conditioning is running, it causes air movement, making it more difficult for mosquitoes to stabilize their flight and therefore harder for them to bite.
